e-readers are a holiday wish list item
Several sources are reporting that e-readers will be a popular gift item this holiday season. A recent online survey conducted by Retrevo, a consumer electronics review website, found that 21% of respondents plan to buy an e-reader this year and 10% of respondents would like to receive an e-reader as a gift this holiday season. HGTVs, digital cameras, and netbooks were among the most popular wish list items but e-readers scored higher than game consoles (6%) and MP3 players (3.4%). In regards to the type of e-reader, 62% plan to buy the Amazon Kindle followed by 32% for the Sony Reader and 6% for other e-reader devices. The age group that is most likely to buy an e-reader is 25-35 year olds with 40% of respondents indicating interest followed by those under age 25 with 29% of respondents indicating interest.
